The Benefit/Risk Analyst is responsible within the benefits administration to assist with the administration of all benefits and retirement programs, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short and long-term disability, and 401(k) plan. Responsible for analyzing, proposing, implementing and maintaining competitive, cost-effective and legally benefit programs. The benefit/risk analyst within the risk management function will assist in insurance, surety bonding property and casualty claims administration. Also responsible for assisting in the development and communication of policies, procedures and programs, as well as ensuring benefit/risk management plan payments and reconciliation are timely and accurate.



  • Assist in the development of benefits/risk department policies, procedures and programs, including documentation and recordkeeping processes.
  • Coordinate the periodic (daily, weekly, monthly) billing process, reconcile payments and track all billing activity; resolve billing issues with vendors/providers.
  • Provides support with the administration and management of benefit/risk programs including reporting of appropriate metrics to measure program activity and achievements and preparing financials for strategic benefit/risk planning and evaluation.
  • Manages audits, required filings and other compliance related initiatives, as required
  • Identify needs, assist in the development of and maintain communication systems to promote understanding of benefit/risk programs and practices for management, employees and HR staff.
  • Coordinate the annual Open Enrollment process.
  • Coordinate the data collection and submission of the property and casualty underwiring information
  • Remain current on legislative updates affecting the benefits function to ensure regulatory compliance
  • Works with vendor/carriers/providers and/or other external advisors, as appropriate, to resolve claims and other benefits/risk -related issues.
  • (education, experience, travel, physical, work environment)
  • B.S./B.A. degree from an accredited 4-year college/university preferred
  • 1-3 years of progressive employee benefits and or risk management experience including some level with all of the responsibilities listed above; or 3-5 years of experience with no degree.
  • Proficient to advanced Excel skills (pivot tables and v-look-up)
  • Strong understanding of the regulations that govern employee benefits; i.e. ERISA, GINA, COBRA, PPACA, FMLA, HIPAA, ACA, etc.
  • Demonstrated ability to turn large volume of data into meaningful information
  • Strong customer service skills to assist with resolution of issues.
  • Detail orientated with ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
