Job summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing new and maintaining existing chassis systems, specifically in the emergency fire apparatus industry. The right candidate will become a member of a team responsible for the development and design of industry leading products. The team member will coordinate and perform complex engineering tasks and support the mission of the Department and Corporation. This position will require the demonstrated ability to interpret and apply engineering principles, theories and concepts to assigned chassis system projects.



  • Plans, develops and completes engineering projects assigned based on market input.
  • Apply sound and technically competent solutions to chassis system projects.
  • Optimize systems for performance and cost.
  • Ability to support product with assembly drawings, schematics, process definition and work instructions as required.
  • Proficient in CAD software (AutoCAD, Inventor a plus).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Good communication skill including verbal and written.
  • Maintain good working relationship with key vendors to incorporate latest technology.
  • Work closely with Bill of Material group to ensure accurate information is used for the assembly process.
  • Establish proper assembly practices and system set-up requirements.
  • Develop testing criteria and reports for new system designs.


Requirements (education, experience, travel, physical, work environment):


Requires a BS degree in Engineering with, generally, experience equivalent to 8 or more years of chassis system design experience, OR a minimum of 12 years of applicable progressive system design experience.

Must be able to read and understand English.

Should have good communication skills

Must be able to sit for long periods of time.

Must be able to walk, stand, grasp and have use of hands.
