Reporting to the Director of Operations, this position is responsible for the direction and coordination of the quality assurance programs and daily operation of the Product Support department activities. Develops, implements and manages quality assurance systems designed to ensure continuous production of advanced composite materials and applications consistent with established standards, customer specifications and production goals. Participates and supports the ISO Quality Management Policy of the company. Supervises a team of quality control inspectors and a team of product support personnel. Reviews applications, interviews and makes recommendations for hiring and/or terminations, performance reviews, compensations/status changes, etc. Plans and assigns work, implements policies and procedures, and recommends improvements in production methods, equipment, operating procedures, and working conditions. Provides leadership and utilizes independent judgment and action necessary to maintain normal on-going operations. Responsible to develop and maintain goals, strategies, plans and policies that continuously improve the overall effectiveness, quality and profitability of the company.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Develops and analyzes statistical data and product specifications to determine standards and to establish quality and reliability expectancy of finished products.
  • Formulate, document and maintain quality control standards, on-going quality control objectives and ISO related policy, procedures and documentation.
  • Coordinates objectives with production procedures in cooperation with other plant management to maximize product reliability and minimize costs through continuous improvement activities.
  • Applies total quality management tools and approaches to analytical and reporting processes, with vendor interaction to ensure quality and timely delivery of all purchased parts and components.
  • Provides technical and statistical expertise to create and document inspection criteria and procedures.

 

Other:

  • Supports semi-annual financial audits and year-end inventory as requested.
  • Accomplishes all other related duties as appropriately requested or assigned.

 

Qualifications:

  • HS Diploma or GED
  • 2 yr Associates degree or a 4 yr B.S. degree in Quality Assurance, Business Administration and/or Engineering plus 3 - 5 years related experience in a manufacturing environment or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Ability to perform employee training and development, conflict resolution, problem analysis and resolution, quality orientation, and inventory management.

 

Ability to read, analyzes, and interprets complex engineering drawings, change orders, and production build instructions and documents.

Computer proficient with a variety of computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, database, and other software utilized in the production operations.
