Primary Functions:


Directs an organization's overall Materials operations, including business unit purchasing, inventory of raw materials and distribution of finished goods. Evaluates past performance data to forecast needs and production levels. Develops strategic plans to improve productivity, quality, and efficiency of operations. Ensures that issues regarding new/existing products are resolved in a timely and cost-efficient manner. Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. Leads and directs the work of others. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.


Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Oversees all activities related to materials, planning, and delivery of parts in accordance with the master production schedule
  • Provide leadership to business unit materials group, establishing goals and development plans
  • Business unit procurement representation in business SIOP process
  • Continuously communicates forecast/demand information to supplier base ensuring capacity is secured and parts are always available
  • Ensure continuous supplier on time delivery
  • Manage inventory levels in line with business objectives ensuring net dollar and absolute piece accuracy at all times
  • Support new product development materials and planning initiatives from prototype to full production
  • Works closely with REV corporate sourcing to implement strategic sourcing and VAVE initiatives
  •   Analyzes market and delivery conditions to determine present and future material availability, and prepares market analysis reports
  • Drives innovation and a focus on continuous improvement within the materials and planning organization
  • Responsible for regular reporting of agreed upon KPI’s including, PPV, inventory, supplier OTD and supplier quality
  • Compiles Materials and Planning departmental budgets and assists in financial forecasting
  • Adheres to company policies, procedures and ethics codes, ensuring that they are implemented throughout the business
  • Coordinate and assist in make/buy analysis –Develop and understand supplier performance metrics – coordination of bidding/quoting activities




  • In-depth knowledge of computerized integrated information systems (manufacturing, materials management, production planning, procurement and distribution) and a superior understanding of manufacturing material flow in a plant.
  • Must possess a strong customer service orientation and provide dedicated support of internal customer requirements. 
  • Must be a proactive change agent and possess leadership skills to build and maintain a team oriented environment while leveraging lean methodologies.
  • Must have solid interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate staff and to interact with various departments throughout the organization.
  • Must be a flexible, decisive and proactive problem solver.

  • Must be a strong communicator and possess strong organizational skills, with ability to work on multiple priorities at once.
  • Must be able to work well in high pressure, fast-paced environment and be proficient at conflict resolution.
  • Must be proficient in information technology systems utilized in Materials Management
  • Must be able to read and understand engineering drawings, blue prints, assembly drawing, schematics and other written or verbal instructions presented in English. 
  • Must be able to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization.


Education and Experience:


  • Bachelor’s degree required in business related area
  • A minimum of 10 years’ of progressive manufacturing operations and procurement experience
  • A minimum of 4 years’ of experience in a Procurement leadership role, focusing on standardizing planning & execution, reducing sourcing complexity, and talent development
  • Lean ideology – drives for continuous improvement – lean manufacturing experience preferred
  • Good understanding of finance
  • Demonstrated supplier management skills
  • Project management and problem solving skills with acute attention to detail
  • Proven ability to lead – able to foster cross functional and cross business collaboration
  • Experience with rate-based or flow line (non-MRP) and job shop manufacturing environments.
  • Experience in operations, inventory management, MRP, lean manufacturing processes and Excel.
