SUMMARY:

Brake press operators operate cutoff saws, shears, and brake press.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily:

  •                 Operates the brakepress
  •                 Reads a job specification to determine machine adjustments and material requirements
  •                 Sets stops or guides to specified length as indicated by scale, rule, or template
  •                 Positions work piece against stops or aligns layout marks with die or blade
  •                 Pushes button or depresses pedal to activate machine
  •                 Observes machine operation to detect work piece defects or machine malfunction
  •                 Measures work piece dimensions to determine accuracy of machine operation
  •                 Removes burrs, sharp edges, rust or scale from work piece
  •                 Performs minor machine maintenance such as oiling machines, dies, or work pieces
  •                 Sets up and performs maintenance on fab and machine shop machines and performs burning work
  •                 Self-check work and inspect prior processes
  •                 Meet production goals
  •                 Maintain a clean and safe work area
  •                 Initiate process improvements when able
  •                 Work in close proximity to customer, as needed
  •                 Operate any equipment or tools needed to perform the job
  •                 Assist other team members and departments as needed
  •                 Other duties as assigned

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

High school diploma or equivalent experience

Ability to use basic hand and power tools

Ability to read and use a tape measure to precise measurements

Ability to work in a team environment

Ability to maintain attendance within company guidelines

Ability to retain and apply instructions

Positive attitude

Work overtime on short notice

Embrace change

Basic computer skills

Basic math skills; addition, subtraction, multiplication and division

Must be detailed orientated

Ability to read and understand truck specification documents

Ability to communicate and understand in English

Ability to work within safety guidelines

Must be self-motivated

Must be able to work with little to no supervision after two weeks

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to stand and walk for extended periods of time and to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls.  The associate frequently is required to talk or hear.  The associate is required to reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel or crawl over, under and around equipment.  May be exposed to vibration.

 

 

 

 

The associate must regularly lift and/or move up to 15 pounds frequently, move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required include close vision, peripheral vision, color vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

 

 

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

General production environment.  The noise level ranges from moderate to loud occasionally.  Environment may be warm or cool, depending on weather and other factors.
