Summary:
The Fabrication Hybrid role is a versatile position encompassing responsibilities from the initial engineering release through the final delivery of fabricated components. This role requires a proactive individual capable of on-the-fly engineering problem-solving, design work for parts, processes, jigs, and special projects, as well as managing material inventory and ensuring efficient fabrication processes. The Fabrication Hybrid will collaborate closely with Engineering and other internal teams to ensure buildable designs and smooth transitions between departments. This position will also involve implementing and utilizing a bar-coding system for part tracking and may include operating the Amada Laser and Jet-Edge waterjet as needed. A strong focus on safety and process improvement is essential.
Responsibilities:
- Interpret and apply specifications, and assist in the creation of Baysheets.
- Design parts, manufacturing processes, jigs, and contribute to special projects.
- Perform part nesting on the Amada Laser and potentially the Jet-Edge waterjet as needed.
- Provide immediate engineering support by identifying mistakes and developing quick, logical solutions.
- Collaborate with the Engineering department to ensure designs are buildable and easily understood by subsequent internal customers (fabrication, welding, painting, assembly, installation).
- Identify and track long-lead items such as materials, coatings, fittings, or specialty customer designs.
- Manage material inventory, including tracking on-hand quantities, ordering materials through purchasing, and forecasting monthly and yearly usage.
- Assist in the installation and proper utilization of a bar-coding system to accurately identify parts for routing and tracking.
- Identify potential safety hazards and take immediate action to address them.
Qualifications:
- Demonstrated understanding of fabrication processes from engineering release to final delivery.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve engineering issues quickly and logically.
- Experience in designing parts, processes, and jigs for fabrication.
- Familiarity with reading and interpreting technical specifications.
- Familiarity with material inventory management and procurement processes.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to understand and contribute to buildable designs for various fabrication stages.
- Experience operating or willingness to learn to operate the Amada Laser and potentially the Jet-Edge waterjet.
- A strong commitment to identifying and addressing potential safety hazards.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience creating Baysheets or similar manufacturing documentation.
- Proficiency in part nesting software for laser and waterjet cutting.
- Experience using Sigmanest, Solidworks, and AutoCAD
