The Payroll Analyst is a key member of the Payroll team at REV Group and is responsible for ensuring payroll accuracy, tax compliance, and efficient reporting processes.  This role plays a critical role in payroll audits, tax filings, general ledger support, and cross-functional collaboration with departments such as Corporate Tax, Accounting, Treasury, and Compensation.  The Payroll Analyst must have a strong attention to detail, excellent problem-solving skills, and a deep understanding of payroll processes and tax compliance.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary from time to time.

 

  • Perform weekly payroll audits and reconciliations, including new hires, terminations, and special earnings/deductions.
  • Manage payroll tax filings and respond to tax notices; coordinate W-2 wage reporting and R&D wage reporting to Corporate Tax.
  • Set up new payroll tax accounts for additional entities or jurisdictions.
  • Support general ledger reconciliations and respond to accounting inquiries.
  • Conduct regular and ad-hoc reporting (e.g., missed punches, missing hours, 401k, referral bonuses, severance audits).
  • Monitor and maintain transaction audit files across all pay groups.
  • Leads the payroll stock processing process, and assists with relocation audits and HSA/benefits reporting.
  • Support annual processes including W-2 reconciliation and approval, workers' compensation reporting, benefit limit audits, and census reporting.
  • Collaborate with ADP on system updates, pay group changes, and payroll issue resolution.
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives and special projects, including overpayment analysis and M&A support.
  • Share responsibility for monitoring the payroll mailbox and addressing employee inquiries.

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent analytical and auditing skills, with strong attention to detail.
  • Solid understanding of payroll tax regulations, reporting, and general ledger concepts.
  • Strong Excel/reporting skills and comfort with data analysis.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills across departments.
  • Solid understanding of payroll systems, and ability to understand ADP Vantage

 

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Prior experience with stock, benefit and relocation audits preferred.
  • Familiarity with Workers’ Compensation reporting and wage reconciliations preferred.
  • Experience participating in M&A payroll integrations preferred.

 

Education and/or Experience:

  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field; or equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in payroll operations, preferably in a multi-state environment.
