Job Purpose:

The Supply Chain Specialist position is responsible for supporting the corporate supply chain team by performing a broad range of duties requiring considerable experience, skills, and knowledge of organizational and company policies and procedures. This role will be integral in establishing a supply chain performance management system.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Basic understanding of supply chain requirements including requests for proposals, Purchase Order management, Terms and Conditions, Planning, Invoicing, and supplier performance metrics such as On-Time Delivery, Quality, and Cost.
  • Work with business units to standardize and validate supplier performance data (On Time Delivery, Supplier Quality, etc)
  • Drive dedicated efforts to identify and implement significant cost reduction opportunities through data driven analysis, sourcing events, supplier rationalization and consolidation, bulk buy initiatives, payment term negotiation, and other supplier negotiation/resourcing initiatives.
  • Project Management: Attention to detail, work with the commodity manager to identify potential projects, work with engineering/purchasing to gather specs/drawings, data analysis and proposal, implementation of the proposed path, structuring and implementing RFQ packages
  • Investigate/audit select suppliers to determine business opportunity strategies (supply base consolidation, leveraging, etc.).
  • Work with supply base to create and maintain supplier contact information.
  • Lead conflict minerals compliance and reporting.
  • Assist in California Proposition 65 compliance.
  • Review and compile accurate information to prepare and distribute requests for quote/proposal, presentations, reports, and other documents as required in a timely manner.
  • Organizes and prioritizes large volumes of information, sorts and distributes mail, type, copy, fax, and distribute correspondence and reports to enhance office efficiency.
  • Assist and support other departments, divisions, plants, associates, and customers in resolving problems and completing assignments as required.
  • Leading or supporting the sourcing process by coordinating and drafting specifications, selection criteria, questionnaires, contract schedules and documentation to ensure that the most appropriate supplier selection is achieved in accordance with Policy guidelines.
  • Support supplier rationalization initiatives
  • Lead new acquisition supply base discovery sessions
  • Gather and document business processes
  • Facilitate and coordinate data cleansing and migration
  • As required, perform data entry with accuracy and within appropriate timeframes.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.



  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, business, engineering or related field.
  • 2-10 years of experience in the field. Will consider University Supply Chain based projects as experience.
  • Must be articulate, self-starter and have a high level of interpersonal skills.
  • Good analytical skills and the ability to work autonomously with little direction.
  • Strong computer skills and comprehension of appropriate software packages, specifically Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Must be detailed oriented.
  • Ability to multi-task and establish priorities.


Work Environment and Physical Requirements

  • 30% Travel
  • Regularly required to stand or walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects; and reach with hands and arms.
  • Frequently required to walk, stoop, kneel or crouch.
  • Occasionally required to sit for extended periods of time, lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.
  • Ability to bend, stoop or squat.
  • Ability to work with arms above head.
  • Able to read and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Indoor office, warehouse, and production floor (occasionally) environment.
