Job Title: Paint Prep (Painter I)

Position Summary:

Spartan Fire Chassis is seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Paint Support Technician to join our Paint Department. This role plays a critical part in ensuring that our paint operations run smoothly and efficiently. The Paint Support Technician is responsible for prepping paint booths, masking/taping vehicles and components, assisting in clean-up operations after painting, maintaining booth filter systems, and supporting waste management activities.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare paint booths prior to use, including sweeping, wiping down surfaces, and verifying proper ventilation.
  • Tape and mask vehicles, parts, and surfaces according to job specifications and quality standards.
  • Clean booths and surrounding areas after paint application, including overspray removal and equipment wipe-down.
  • Change and dispose of paint booth filters on a regular schedule.
  • Assist paint technicians with prepping parts and materials as needed.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment, following all safety and environmental regulations.
  • Monitor supplies and notify supervisor when inventory needs replenishment.
  • Become certified in hazardous waste handling and assist with the proper collection, labeling, and storage of paint-related waste.
  • Support continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives within the department.

 

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Previous experience in an industrial or automotive paint environment is a plus.
  • Ability to work in a physically demanding environment (standing, bending, lifting up to 50 lbs).
  • Attention to detail and strong work ethic.
  • Comfortable wearing PPE and working around paint fumes and chemicals (proper ventilation provided).
  • Willingness to learn and follow standard operating procedures and safety guidelines.
  • Ability to obtain certification in hazardous waste handling (training provided by the company).

 

Work Environment:

  • Manufacturing/industrial environment with exposure to paint, solvents, and dust.
  • Must be able to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including respirators, gloves, and protective clothing.
