Job Title: Paint Prep (Painter I)

Position Summary:

Spartan Fire Chassis is seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Paint Support Technician to join our Paint Department. This role plays a critical part in ensuring that our paint operations run smoothly and efficiently. The Paint Support Technician is responsible for prepping paint booths, masking/taping vehicles and components, assisting in clean-up operations after painting, maintaining booth filter systems, and supporting waste management activities.

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare paint booths prior to use, including sweeping, wiping down surfaces, and verifying proper ventilation.
Tape and mask vehicles, parts, and surfaces according to job specifications and quality standards.
Clean booths and surrounding areas after paint application, including overspray removal and equipment wipe-down.
Change and dispose of paint booth filters on a regular schedule.
Assist paint technicians with prepping parts and materials as needed.
Maintain a clean and organized work environment, following all safety and environmental regulations.
Monitor supplies and notify supervisor when inventory needs replenishment.
Become certified in hazardous waste handling and assist with the proper collection, labeling, and storage of paint-related waste.
Support continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives within the department.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED preferred.
Previous experience in an industrial or automotive paint environment is a plus.
Ability to work in a physically demanding environment (standing, bending, lifting up to 50 lbs).
Attention to detail and strong work ethic.
Comfortable wearing PPE and working around paint fumes and chemicals (proper ventilation provided).
Willingness to learn and follow standard operating procedures and safety guidelines.
Ability to obtain certification in hazardous waste handling (training provided by the company).

Work Environment:

Manufacturing/industrial environment with exposure to paint, solvents, and dust.
Must be able to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including respirators, gloves, and protective clothing.
