CAD Drafter I


Job Description:

The CAD drafter I creates’ visual plans from product designs for the construction of REV  Recreation vehicles. These plans provide line workers and vendors with information about the dimensions and materials necessary for a project. CAD drafters consult with engineers, designers, product leads and managers to obtain the technical details for drawings. Using computer-aided design/drafting systems and knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures, drafters are able to prepare drawings electronically. Primary job functions do not typically require exercising independent judgment. Typically reports to a Lead Drafter of Product Lead.


Specific Job Functions Include:

  • Develop detailed design drawings and specifications from markups and verbal instructions related to RV design using computer-assisted drafting (CAD) equipment.
  • Work with and consult other workers to design, lay-out, or detail components and systems and to resolve design or other problems and to insure projects and tasks are completed in a timely manner.
  • Review and analyze specifications, sketches, drawings, ideas, and related data to assess factors affecting component designs and the procedures and instructions to be followed.
  • Modify and revise designs to correct operating deficiencies or to reduce production problems.
  • Check dimensions of materials to be used to insure proper fit and function.
  • Lay-out and draw schematic, orthographic, or angle views to depict functional relationships of components, assemblies, systems, and machines.
  • Keeps abreast of current CAD Standards to maintain continuity during the drawing and bill of material development process.
  • Maintains the library of production drawings and bills of material to ensure a central source of current reference information is available and accessible to all departments.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma.
  • CAD Certificate from trade school or equivalent.
  • 0-2 years’ experience in related field
  • Good working knowledge of SolidWorks or similar 3D CAD product.
  • Good understanding of GD&T and ASME Y14.5 Standards
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Strong mechanical skills
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment
  • Excellent communication skills; highly motivated; organized and self-disciplined.
