Job Summary:

Senior Buyers own the cost of purchased components, manage the commercial relationship with suppliers, source new components (sometimes under compressed timeframes), support quality and materials issues, negotiate pricing changes, and relentlessly pursue savings projects.  Senior Buyers have accountability for managing, setting, and executing a supply strategy for specific suppliers. The position requires a combination of strategic thinking, sharp business judgment, and critical thinking sufficient to develop supply base into a sustainable source of lowest total cost components. A solid understanding of cost management and the ability to extract and manipulate data are essential to success. The candidate must be capable of promoting and selling concepts at all levels of the organization through sound analysis and data driven thought processes. The candidate must have a strong desire to challenge the status quo and make an impact. The candidate must perform with a minimum of supervision and be a demonstrated team player.

 

Responsibilities:

• Drives all tactical commercial and supplier management activity for assigned commodities, suppliers, and/or projects

• Responsible & accountable for achieving lowest total cost metrics within the supply base and maintaining cost competitiveness over time

• Drives dedicated efforts to identify and implement significant cost reduction opportunities through data driven analysis, new supplier identification,    and supplier negotiation/resourcing initiatives, amongst others
• Develops execution plans to implement key strategies as identified and defined by commodity management

• Leads new business awards and sourcing programs with suppliers to ensure alignment with commercial terms, quality, and cost competitiveness

• Leads price change negotiations with the supply base including: engineering revisions, price increase requests, volume changes, etc.
• Responsible for new supplier identification and supplier development activities consistent with corporate guidelines for quality, performance, and growth objectives

• Leads the implementation of new strategic sourcing initiatives to ensure benefits are fully realized

• Keeps abreast of material prices, markets, and pricing trends

• Key player in working with the broader organization including product development, sales, operations, engineering, and materials

• Coordinates with REV counterparts to identify supplier opportunities and works closely on key projects

• Performs other duties as assigned

 

Requirements (education, experience, travel, physical, work environment):

• BS degree Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or equivalent field of study
• Prior work experience in Purchasing or Supply Chain Management with focus on strategic sourcing, supplier development, and/or cost reduction

• Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills

• Excellent written and oral communication skills
