The Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and leading a team of direct labor associates in the manufacture and assembly of products, components, and parts for recreational vehicles (RVs). Under the direction of the Director of Operations, the Production Supervisor is responsible for the manufacturing process and productivity, personnel training and coaching, and driving continuous improvement. The Supervisor works closely with supporting departments – Engineering, Human Resources, Maintenance, Purchasing, Quality, Safety, and Sales – to meet overall performance objectives. The Supervisor must also lead the team in safety, quality, efficiency, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Assign hourly production personnel daily to meet schedule commitments and cycle time requirements.
  • Prioritize and manage workflow within the department to ensure timely and efficient task completion.
  • Ensure all quality and regulatory requirements are met; stop production if necessary to address issues.
  • Review departmental work for technical accuracy per engineering prints, BOMs, work instructions, and quality documents.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations; hold employees accountable to OSHA and company policies.
  • Maintain accurate and timely employee attendance records.
  • Provide technical expertise for problem-solving; collaborate with Materials, Engineering, Sales Admin, and Product Management for root cause and corrective action.
  • Provide input on staffing needs and personnel selection; assist in budgeting for personnel, equipment, and supplies.
  • Lead continuous improvement activities, including waste identification, 5S, standard work, and visual management.
  • Encourage employee suggestions and help implement improvements.
  • Ensure Safety, Quality, On-time Delivery, and Cost objectives are clearly understood and managed.
  • Interface with Engineering for changes, prototypes, new materials, and process introductions.
  • Interface weekly with Purchasing and vendors regarding changes or modifications.
  • Ensure proper maintenance of equipment and tooling.
  • Participate in daily management meetings and facility walk-throughs.
  • Elevate issues and suggest improvements as necessary.

Requirements

  • High school diploma required; Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of work-related experience, with 2+ years in a supervisory or leadership capacity.
  • Practical experience in electrical, mechanical, welding, metal fabrication, etc.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes.
  • Solid understanding and application of lean principles and continuous improvement.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong team-building and conflict resolution abilities.
  • Able to collaborate cross-functionally with leadership teams.
  • Strong prioritization and independent decision-making abilities.
  • Excellent computer skills; ability to learn company-specific systems.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements such as Triple K and CAAS.

Physical Demands

  1. Lift/Push/Pull: Up to 40 lbs occasionally, 20 lbs frequently.
  2. Climbing: Includes ladders, stairs, scaffolding, etc.
  3. Stooping: Bending at the waist.
  4. Kneeling: Resting on one or both knees.
  5. Crouching/Crawling/Reaching: Full body motion and reaching in all directions.
  6. Standing: Sustained periods.
  7. Walking: For long distances or between work sites.
  8. Visual Acuity: For operating machines or performing mechanical tasks.
  9. Hazards Exposure: Includes moving parts, vehicles, high places, heat, chemicals, and electrical current.
