Position Summary
The Assembler III in the Seating Install Department is a skilled, experienced team member responsible for performing advanced installation, assembly, and finishing tasks related to custom luxury seating systems in Midwest Automotive Design vehicles. This position requires strong technical aptitude, the ability to interpret complex drawings, and proficiency with specialized tools and installation techniques. The Assembler III ensures all work meets Midwest Automotive Design and REV Group quality, safety, and production standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform advanced-level installation and assembly of seating components, including bases, tracks, harnesses, foam, upholstery, and electrical connections as required.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, work orders, and installation schematics.
- Fit, align, and secure components with a high degree of precision, ensuring proper function and aesthetic quality.
- Diagnose and correct issues related to seating operation, fitment, and structural alignment.
- Train, guide, or mentor lower-level assemblers and assist the team with troubleshooting complex installation challenges.
- Install completed seating assemblies into vehicle interiors, ensuring secure mounting and alignment with surrounding components.
- Operate power tools, hand tools, pneumatic tools, and specialty equipment safely and efficiently.
- Perform quality checks throughout the build process, ensuring compliance with departmental standards and REV Group specifications.
- Maintain clean and organized work areas in accordance with 5S and safety guidelines.
- Assist with continuous improvement initiatives, suggesting process enhancements or tooling adjustments.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Production Supervisors, Upholstery, and other departments as needed.
- Follow all company policies, safety procedures, and OSHA requirements
Qualifications
Education & Experience:
- Minimum 3–5 years of assembly or installation experience in automotive, RV, marine, aviation, or comparable manufacturing environments.
- Strong understanding of mechanical assembly, fasteners, alignment, and torque requirements.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and work instructions with minimal supervision.
- Proficient with power and hand tools, including drills, drivers, torque tools, saws, and pneumatic equipment.
- High attention to detail with a commitment to craftsmanship and quality.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work in various physical positions (standing, kneeling, overhead, confined spaces).
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or within a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with custom luxury vehicle conversions or specialty automotive interiors.
- Knowledge of electrical systems or 12V wiring related to seating assemblies (heating, power bases, massage units).
- Previous leadership or mentoring experience.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, bend, crouch, and work in confined spaces for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. regularly.
- Frequent use of ladders, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
- Work environment includes exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures.
