The Senior Plant Accountant will be charged with all aspects of the Plant Accounting function. The role encompasses leading the accounting, reporting, tax, internal control, and costing functions of the business.  The ideal candidate must exhibit the ability to think creatively; communicate at a high level, both verbally and in written form; work well with others at all levels; manage a large number of projects at one time; and establish positive relationships with internal and external customers.  The candidate should enjoy “walking the plant floor” to find out what’s happening and how they can help. The Sr. Plant Accountant must possess the ability to ensure accurate costing of all units, many of which are for different product lines, styles, have different options packages and manufactured at different plants. 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual consolidated financial statements under U.S. GAAP.
  • Review product line and plant performance, including pricing and costing and ensure that all labor, material and overhead costs are properly identified, captured and accounted for.
  • Ensure that inventory standards are reviewed and updated when new product lines are developed or when changes are made to the manufacturing process on existing units.
  • Review all existing accounting policies and procedures, including internal control documents, and recommend any appropriate updates and changes.
  • Manage the budget and financial forecasting process in an efficient and detailed manner.
  • Work with the external auditors for the preparation of audited annual consolidated accounts and the preparation of all city, state and federal tax returns.
  • Ensure that all bank reporting requirements are met in an accurate and timely fashion.
  • Assist in all functional areas with a goal to measure and improve profitability and overall financial performance.
  • Act as a business consultant and advisor to management for new projects, negotiating new contracts, payback analysis, etc.
  • Continually evaluate best industry practices in comparison to internal control systems and make recommendations as required.
  • Ensure both internal and external reporting requirements are met in a timely fashion including all monthly, quarterly and yearly reporting deadlines from corporate.

     

    Requirements:

  • Five or more years of progressively responsible financial and administrative management experience, of which at least three years are at the senior or equivalent level of a $80 million plus manufacturing organization or business unit.
  • B.S. in business or finance is required.  CPA and with strong knowledge of US GAAP plus SOX compliance preferred.
  • Proven effectiveness training, mentoring and managing functional staff.
  • Excellent cost accounting knowledge and analytical skills.
  • Excellent budgeting and forecasting skills.
  • Fully computer literate in all respects.
  • Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Be a highly motivated self-starter with a high degree of initiative, creativity, and problem solving ability.
  • Ability to serve as a strong and confident partner to the Division Controller.
