CAD (SolidWorks) Drafter - RV Industry

 

Responsible for designing and documenting a product/product family and creating work instruction. Ensure production procedures efficiently utilize drawings and work instructions. Reverse engineer assemblies as needed. Gains exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. Work in a team environment to improve production efficiency.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Use CAD (SolidWorks) software to develop the 3D design and 2D drawings for various products, model new designs, and produce detailed engineering drawings.
  • Use SolidWorks to create and modify assemblies. Effectively use SolidWorks to visualize new concepts.
  • Assist with creating and reviewing material part specifications and bills of materials
  • Assist with designing, developing, executing, and evaluating product specifications for a variety of moderate complexity assemblies and/or components
  • Understand manufacturing processes with emphasis on fabrication and assemblies. Apply DFM methodologies to deliver robust engineering packages emphasizing productivity in the manufacturing process.
  • Work with the operators to make the manufacturing process more efficient.
  • Identify problems, root causes and be able to define & execute resolutions.
  • Understand and use lean principles as they apply to manufacturing and business processes.
  • Execute engineering changes through established processes and documentation.
  • Commit to excellence and high standards.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of manufacturing industry and vocational standards.
  • SolidWorks software experience required, including working with assemblies.
  • Experience with AutoCAD preferred.
  • Experience with version control and BOM preferred.
  • Experience generating and modifying work instructions preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with ability to work directly with hourly production employees and leadership concerning manufacturing initiatives and progress updates.
  • Strong work ethic, highly motivated, organized, and self-disciplined.
  • Versatile, flexible, and willing to work with changing priorities.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to stay on task.
  • Ability to execute concurrent assignments in a high-pressure environment.
  • Strong and consistent attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively independently and in a team environment.
  • PC skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Excel, Word, Teams, and Outlook.
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and layout and other written or verbal instructions.
  • Capable of effectively presenting information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees in the organization.

 

Education and/or Experience:

  • Associate Degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or equivalent education preferred.
  • Typically requires 2+ years of related experience.
  • Or 4+ years of CAD experience in leu of degree.

 

Work Environment/Conditions:

  • General office environment with work on the plant floor as required.
