General Summary of Position:

This position is responsible for the Paint Departments daily production activities and continuous improvement in areas of safety, cost, housekeeping, and people. This position will support the day-to-day operations for the Paint area and will also be responsible for overseeing a minimum of ten (10) employees.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The following reflects the essential functions for this position but does not restrict the tasks that may be assigned based upon changing business conditions.

  • Manage hourly and daily needs for the process at hand. Allocate resources, manage process flow, and solve problems as required to ensure that objectives are met.
  • Lead activities to resolve issues needing corrective action.
  • Hazardous Waste handling, labeling, storage and escalation procedures/processes.
  • Assist supervisor in preparing training plans, performance reviews, workload balance and evaluations.
  • Communicate effectively, respectfully and professionally both within Terex and externally to the customer.
  • Complete quality checks on sand blasted and painted parts.
  • Oversee the training of all employees in the department.
  • Drive measurable improvements through training and direct involvement with people and processes.
  • Initiate and implement process improvements in their area of responsibility.
  • Familiarity with paint guns, pot guns, mixing paint, sanding, primer and PPE specific to paint.
  • Demonstrate willingness and ability to pursue personal development through training and education.
  • Provide regular feedback to employees regarding performance.
  • Maintain good safety and housekeeping practices with paint products.
  • Lead/Assist in the development, review, and updating of the Operator Instructions.
  • Ensure that paperwork in each area is complete and accurate prior to moving to the next operation and workstation.
  • Capable of on-the-job training which meets safety, quality and efficiency standards.
  • Perform and/or complete basic administration tasks in the supervisor's absence.
  • Establish and run team meetings.
  • Complete small special projects in a timely manner.
  • Support, manage and ensure organizational policies and procedures.
  • Ensure materials, paint readiness and production preparation activities are verified and communicated.
  • Makes sound business decisions based on information and resources available.
  • Ensures compliance with all company policies and procedures.
  • Identifies and promotes opportunities for cross training within and between departments           
  • Encourage and support all employees.
  • Support and reinforce departmental safety expectations and 5S.
  • Work overtime at short notice.
  • Retain, apply and comfortable with giving instructions.

 

 

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 3-5 years of experience working with Paint on automotives.
  • Team Leader experience preferred.
  • Proficient computer skills – Word, Excel, Teams.
  • Able to effectively communicate with employees to provide feedback and solve problems.
  • Leadership and organizational skills.
  • Willing and able to pursue personal development through training and education.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
