Position Summary:

The Senior Cost Accountant reports directly to the Controller and assists in a variety of duties including product costing, data processing, inventory controls, expense budgets, month end closing, forecasting and capital appropriations.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Establish material, labor, and overhead standards. Performs monthly variance analysis
  • Prepare material usage reports, anticipates cost based on production plan to develop business forecasts
  • Perform inventory cost rolls and maintain inventory costing on make parts in ERP, audit BOM accuracy
  • Prepare month end close standard journal entries and confirms COGS accuracy. Complete variance analysis for review with dept managers and Controller
  • Produce all reports necessary for month end closing, maintain permanent accounting records
  • Provide costing support to sales and purchasing departments for pricing negotiations or price changes with customers
  • Participates and tracks LeanDNA projects for cost savings initiatives
  • Assists in annual budgeting, monthly/quarterly forecast preparation and review
  • Own financial support of cycle count program for completeness and accuracy. Analyze inventory discrepancies and estimate reasonable shrinkage reserves
  • Assist three-way match process to reconcile invoicing/receipt discrepancies
  • Prepare timely account reconciliations maintaining the accuracy of balance sheet accounts as required by company policy and SOX
  • Work with site leadership team to manage appropriate inventory levels and analyze inventory variances to forecast
  • Performs other duties as deemed necessary by the Controller

 

Requirements (education, experience, travel, physical, work environment):

  • Demonstrated effectiveness in a complex, growth-oriented organization, requiring flexibility and adaptability to changing organization priorities
  • Solid project management and problem-solving capabilities
  • Ability to effectively manage change and process improvement
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Advanced Excel)
  • 0-5% annual travel expectation
  • Preferred: Supply Chain Accounting background
  • Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or equivalent             
  • 2-5 years of accounting/finance experience in a manufacturing organization
