SUMMARY:

The Production Supervisor position is responsible for providing leadership and direction to team members with a focus on safety, quality, productivity, and continuous improvement for Spartan’s various product lines including, but not limited to, emergency response bodies and chassis.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Consistently model a positive attitude and demonstrate a “can do” mindset
  • Conduct small and large team meetings to communicate plant performance to the KPI’s
  • Train, or facilitate the training of, new associates in all aspects of their job function
  • Administer policies and procedures
  • Communicate and support strict adherence to quality standards
  • Ensure quality goals and objectives are met on a daily basis
  • Ensure efficient location of materials
  • Monitor scrap for undue waste
  • Prepare reject tags, as required, and manage this process per policy
  • Monitor and improve the management of inventory
  • Passionate about improving safety, quality, delivery, and cost
  • Identify root cause and implement corrective action where gaps to the goals exist
  • Support new and current team member activities – hiring, performance, management, transfers, promotions and disciplinary processes
  • Manage vacation approvals, time card approval, daily and weekly overtime, hiring, and training.
  • Motivate, coach, reward, and discipline associates being supervised; resolve personnel issues
  • Maintain a high degree of visibility and access to associates on shop floor throughout the shift
  • Schedule work assignments to maximize production efficiency
  • Develop and monitor staffing plans to execute the schedule on time at the planned MPU or better
  • Meet production goals
  • Maintain a clean and safe plant
  • Initiate process improvements
  • Support 5S initiatives
  • Communicate with cross-functional teams (engineering, materials, purchasing, sales, etcetera) to resolve issues
  • Work in close proximity with customer, as needed
  • Solve complex problems with minimal assistance

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) in related field preferred
  • Minimum of five years manufacturing experience with demonstrated leadership skills required; vehicle assembly line experience in a leadership role preferred
  • Possess a CDL, or be willing to obtain
  • Positive attitude
  • Proven ability to plan and handle multiple projects and meet deadlines
  • Creative and innovative team player
  • Intermediate computer skills are required
  • Demonstrated experience in personnel management
  • Versatile, flexible, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities
  • Strong:

    • Leadership attributes and interpersonal skills
    • Organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills

 

EDUCATION AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • CDL preferred
  • 5 years functional experience
  • Manufacturing experience with demonstrated leadership skills. Vehicle assembly line experience in a leadership role preferred
