General Summary of Position:

 This is a hands-on position that provides general maintenance, mechanical and electrical diagnostic, repair, and refurb of in-service fire apparatus. This position will interact with dealers, Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM’s), vendors, and owners of these units.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

 The following reflect the essential functions for this position but does not restrict the tasks that may be assigned based upon changing business conditions. 

 

  • Consistently complete quality diagnostics and repairs.
  • Identify and communicate the repair needs of vehicles inspected.
  • Maintain a safe work environment.
  • Document cause and corrections for all repairs.
  • Ability to work overtime with little or no notice to complete the task at hand.
  • Thoroughness in repair procedures.
  • Cleanliness of assigned work area.
  • Obtain (or possess) own tools.
  • Ability to travel at short notice. (10% or less)
  • Outdoor work (30% of time)

 

Qualifications:

  • Strong communication skills, verbally and written.
  • Minimum of two years production line experience or equivalent combination in a garage operation.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, test, repair and service technical equipment
  • Ability to problem solve and work independently.
