Supervise the daily activities of a specified group of department employees, ensuring that safety, quality, and production standards are met.  Directly supervises Production Department consisting of team leads and direct labor employees. May work closely with sales, materials, quality, and engineering functions to meet company goals and objectives.

 

Responsibilities:

    • Schedule labor effectively to maximize productivity.
    • Accomplish material and labor production goals.
    • Maintain safety and housekeeping requirements within your department.
    • Assign and coordinate new hire and transferred employees.
    • Coach, mentor, and discipline employees, as necessary.
    • Complete performance appraisals for all employees in the department.
    • Review and approve employees’ work hours for payroll purposes.
    • Ensures quality assurance process is being followed.
    • Review Specs and vehicles at completion for completeness and quality

 

 Requirements (education, experience, travel, physical, work environment):

    • An Associate’s degree (4-year college degree preferred) or equivalent of a combination of education and experience in a manufacturing environment.
    • Five or more experience in supervision or leading teams preferred.
    • Fundamental use of various pneumatic and power tools. Must be familiar with the safe operation of various tools – drill, screw gun, sander, jig saw, etc.
    • Ability to communicate at all levels to include presenting information to individuals and small groups.
    • Advanced problem solving and project management skills.
    • Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point).
    • Ability to work under pressure with limited or non-supervision.
    • Excellent written and verbal communications skills: ability to read, write, comprehend, and verbally communicate simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
    • Ability to read and use linear and other measuring devices.
    • Good understanding of OSHA and EPA standards.
    • Ability to implement and direct environmental, health and safety policies and procedures.
    • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and layout and other written or verbal instructions presented in English.
    • Completed Hazardous Materials Handling Operations and Hazardous Waste training.
    • Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 40#’s without assistance.
    • Ability to work from various squatting, kneeling or bending positions.
    • Ability to work with arms above head.
  • Ability to work from ladders or scaffolding.
  • Ability to stand at a workstation for ten hours a day (minus specified breaks.)
  • Ability to perform all operations within acceptable quality and time standards.
  • Ability to safely use specified hand, air, power tools, and machinery.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals.
