Sales Specialist - Fire Service Industry

 

Responsible for processing and coordinating bids/quotes and orders, following up outstanding orders, submitted by the Sales Staff.  Also responsible for keeping up with Equipment Inventory and Vendor Pricing updates. Display a high degree of technical and administrative proficiency. This position requires interaction with the Outside Sales Staff, Regional Sales Managers, dealers, and customers. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the job functions.

 

KNOWLEDGE / EDUCATION

Fire Service Experience

Proficiency in Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel is necessary.

 

EXPERIENCE

Must have knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in the quote/bid field. Must have excellent oral and written communication skills as well as competency in appropriate computer and software tools.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Provides Sales Staff and customers with technical assistance by reviewing specifications and preparing bid quotation material.  
  • Provides Sales Staff with special priced options to include reviewing all special requests for non-standard items.
  • Resolve bid review questions with Sales Staff.
  • Review out going bid quotes for completeness and accuracy.
  • Participate in bid/order review meetings.
  • Promote the sale of existing and new product lines through written, verbal and personal sales efforts.   
  • Writes information bulletins when necessary.  
  • Prepares and submits reports as required.
  • Establishes and maintain competitor/supplier information files.
  • Coordinate communications concerning bids/orders which may include the dealer, customer, sales, marketing, engineering, production, purchasing, and finance personnel.

 

OTHER RELATED JOB FUNCTIONS

Job functions may include special assignments as directed by the department supervisor or manager.

 

CONTACT WITH OTHERS

Must be able to handle a variety of customers, which can include interaction with other departments, managers, customers, vendors, etc.

Will be exposed to information of a confidential nature. Will be required to sign a standard confidentiality and non-compete agreement.  

 

WORKING CONDITIONS

Will work in an office setting with some exposure to customer locations and at times on the factory floor. Would be required to comply with all safety and environmental rules, regulations and guidelines including PPE requirements. Could be exposed to dust, noise or hazardous materials. May be required to handle material up to 50 pounds in weight.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIRMENTS

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk and sit. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus.

 

SUPERVISION RECEIVED

Reports to the department supervisor or manager.
