QUALITY SUPERVISOR 

 

Supervise the daily activities of quality inspectors, ensuring that safety, quality, and production standards are met. Execute the Quality Management System. Improve the Dealer/Customer experience.

 

Organizational relationships:           

  • Reports to the Quality Manager.                    
  • Directly supervises Quality Inspectors.
  • Works closely with sales, production and engineering functions.
  • Builds positive working relationships with dealers and customers.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Schedule inspection labor effectively to provide coverage for the Quality Control Inspection Procedure and to control overtime costs.
  • Maintain safety and 6S within the Quality department.
  • Train new and transferred employees.
  • Promote and facilitate cross-training within the team to increase flexibility for coverage and to develop employees.
  • Coach, mentor and discipline employees as necessary.
  • Maintain and complete all Human Resources paperwork for the employees in the Quality department (attendance, vacation request, etc…)
  • Complete Pre-delivery Inspections (PDI) and participate in Dealer and Customer Gig List Walk-throughs.
  • Manage feedback loops from downstream inspection gates to upstream inspection gates. Reduce escape quality at upstream inspection gates.
  • Collect, analyze and report data obtained for KPIs (key process indicators).
  • Perform ISO internal audits and Critical Process audits.
  • Support Quality Management System Vision, Objectives and Plan.

 

Qualifications: 

  • Five (5) years of experience in manufacturing with supervision experience preferred.
  • The ability to communicate in a professional manner with all levels of personnel to include presenting information to individuals and small groups.
  • Advanced problem solving and project management skills
  • Ability to lead personnel toward the achievement of company goals
  • Lean Certification preferred
  • Proficient PC skills including MS Office Suite, MAPICS and/or MRP
  • Advanced time management skills
  • Ability to handle emergency situations calmly.
  • Ability to implement and direct environmental, health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Ability to read, write, comprehend, and verbally communicate simple instructions, short correspondence and memos in English.
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and layout and other written or verbal instructions presented in English.
  • Ability to read and use linear and other measuring devices.

 

Education/Experience

  • High School graduate or GED
  • 2-year college degree in Engineering/Manufacturing/Business Administration preferred.
  • Five (5) years’ experience with proficiency in the specialty vehicle or truck and bus chassis manufacturing field is preferred.
  • ISO 9000 (preferred)
  • Certified Internal ISO9001:2008 Auditor (preferred)

  • Ability to work in noisy and dusty conditions.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals.

 

The noise level in the work environment is elevated.
