Job Summary:
The Warehouse Manager is responsible for end-to-end leadership of warehouse activities supporting manufacturing operations, including material receiving, line-side replenishment, finished goods storage, and outbound shipping. This role ensures uninterrupted material flow to production, accurate inventory control, safe operations, and efficient labor utilization.
The Warehouse Manager partners closely with Manufacturing, Materials Planning, Procurement, and Quality to align warehouse execution with production schedules and business objectives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Warehouse Operations
- Lead all plant and AMP warehouse activities including receiving, put-away, storage, picking, kitting, staging, shipping, and returns.
- Ensure timely and accurate delivery of materials to production lines.
- Manage finished goods storage and outbound logistics to meet customer delivery commitments.
- Optimize warehouse layout, material flow, organization and space utilization to support production and picking efficiency.
- Support engineering changes, and production ramp-ups.
Inventory Accuracy & Control
- Own physical inventory integrity for all inventory including raw materials, WIP, packaging, and finished goods.
- Manage cycle count programs and root-cause analysis for inventory discrepancies.
- Ensure accurate and timely transaction discipline within ERP/WMS systems.
- Support MRP execution and inventory optimization initiatives.
Leadership & Workforce Management
- Lead warehouse teams across shifts.
- Establish performance expectations, KPIs, and standard work.
- Drive a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with OSHA and company standards.
- Oversee staffing, training, cross-training, and succession planning.
- Manage labor productivity, overtime, and cost controls.
Continuous Improvement & Automation
- Lead Lean manufacturing and warehouse improvement initiatives (5S, standard work, visual management).
- Identify and implement automation, material handling systems, and technology improvements.
- Drive inventory accuracy, waste reduction, throughput improvement, and space optimization.
Systems & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Serve as warehouse process owner for ERP systems (Infor XA).
- Partner with Manufacturing, Materials, Engineering, Quality, and IT to resolve operational issues.
- Lead and Support ERP/WMS implementations, upgrades, and process standardization.
- Utilize data and dashboards to drive daily management oversight and continuous improvement.
Financial & Strategic Accountability
- Manage warehouse operating budgets and capital requests.
- Establish, Track and report KPIs such as inventory accuracy, dock-to-stock time, line-side fill rate, and shipping performance.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, audits, and regulatory requirements (SOX).
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Materials, Operations, Business or related field preferred.
- 5-8 years of experience in warehouse operations preferably within a manufacturing environment.
- Proven leadership experience managing and coaching warehouse teams.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing material flows (MRP, JIT, kanban).
- Experience with ERP and WMS systems.
- Demonstrated success driving safety, productivity, and continuous improvement.
- Materials management experience in an environment including customized manufacturing (Job shop), multi-level Bill of Material.
- Knowledge of MS Office applications as needed to satisfactorily perform work assignments – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint as well as the ability to learn company enterprise systems as needed.
- Must be organized, able to prioritize, set and keep deadlines, change direction quickly, and adapt to various work environments easily.
- Excellent communication skills, including verbal and written, including following instructions.
- Must be able to work effectively in group settings through collaborative, solutions-oriented, and win-win approaches.
- Develop presentations to be delivered to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
Preferred Qualifications
- Lean, Six Sigma, APICS (CPIM/CSCP) certifications.
