This Business Unit position will report to the Quality Manager.  This position is responsible for training quality control employees in all production departments to work as part of a team having responsibility for quality inspection of parts, components, sub-assemblies and completed units of the company’s products. The associate will assist quality control personnel with performing the essential functions and duties assigned by inspecting materials, parts, and operations per the BOMs, SOAs, Work Orders, Drawings, Work Instructions, and other verbal and/or written instructions provided. This position may also cross-train and support other departments and processes as requested and assigned.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as requested or assigned.
  • This position will be working with the Quality and Production groups to prevent quality escapements internally and in the field.
  • Will work proactively on Quality through coaching Assemblers on their installation work.
  • Inspection of finished sweepers, terminal tractors, and parts to determine defects and conformance to applicable standards and regulations; perform electrical and function testing, perform road tests.
  • Must be able to perform both function and cosmetic inspections and be proficient at both.
  • Understand and carry out verbal and written directions in English.
  • Pay close attention to detail.
  • Computer entry of defects and errors.
  • Printing of computer-generated reports.
  • Function with a minimal amount of supervision or no supervision.
  • Set work priorities to meet production goals as scheduled.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.
  • Able to effectively communicate in English.
  • Must possess good mechanical ability and component operation functions.
  • Must understand drive trains and power unit operation and able to troubleshoot.
  • Maintain traceability records for all finished vehicles.
  • Good interpersonal skills required to communicate problems verbally.
  • Ability to rotate and learn multiple quality inspection gates and Business Units.
  • Must be able to handle multiple assignments daily as required.
  • Ability to assist Lead Quality Inspector in quality and production improvements.
  • Must be willing to answer questions and assist all coworkers as opportunities present themselves.
  • Supports fellow associates within the home department as well as other departments to ensure smooth production flow and timely unit completion.
  • Support Lean Manufacturing activities as requested or assigned.
  • Balances quality, productivity, safety, and morale to achieve positive results in all assigned areas. Works to continuously improve all areas, ensure a safe work environment, and conduct coaching and development activities to increase the skill and capability of assemblers.
  • Fulfill documentation and reports requirements for the Quality Management program.
  • Review daily paperwork for accuracy and completeness and follow up as needed.
  • Creates documents such as checklists, work instructions and quality standards for production employees.
  • Prepares quality documentation and reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information and trends including failed processes, stability studies, recalls, corrective actions, and re-validations.
  • Participates in weekly quality/MRB meetings and follows up on meeting outcomes.
  • Perform statistical analysis and data analysis through computerized Defect system.

 

Requirements (education, experience, travel, physical, work environment):

  • Must be able to read, interpret, understand, and have the ability to perform the various operations as listed on BOMs, SOAs, Work Instructions, Work Orders, Quality and Engineering drawings/documents,

Maintenance instructions, and parts and procedure/processes associated with each individual product unit.

  • Utilizing the appropriate Personal Protection Equipment, must be able to Safely operate all power tools, hand tools and specialty tools required in the assembly process.
  • Must have the ability to utilize Deductive Reasoning and Critical Thinking using logic and reasoning to identify potential problems, strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions and approaches for continuous product and cost improvement applications.
  • 1-3 years of experience in a quality role preferred
  • Strong data entry skills required
  • Microsoft office or some college credits preferred

 

 

Description of Work Environment and Working Conditions:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to an indoor/outdoor plant non-climate-controlled area. The noise level is usually moderate. In the plant, eye protection, hearing protection, and safety toe shoes/boots are mandatory, masks may be required in identified areas.
