SCOPE: The Quality Technician tests and inspects manufactured product to ensure the quality standards and functionality for the vehicles built by E-ONE meet all customer and statutory/regulatory requirements. The Quality technician may also monitor the inspection and testing activities of the production floor, or setup equipment to monitor product conformance.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Provide daily support to plant production and manufacturing operations
- Test functionality of pumps, ladders, and all other related equipment
- Perform NFPA testing, Foam testing, FAA testing, Road testing, and other statutory testing
- Inspect product to ensure product meets workmanship standards and other requirements defined in work instruction, engineering bulletins, supplier manuals, etc.
- Audit prints, shop orders, change orders, etc, to ensure product is built to documented customer requirements.
- Conduct NDT weld inspection using magnetic particle, liquid dye penetration, etc.
- Ensure manufacturing quality records are complete and legible.
- Prepare ROPC’s and certificates of conformance and test results
- Document non-conformances and verify rework.
- Consistently exercises discretion and judgment in the performance of work.
- Provide instruction and advice to production employees, dealers and customers on proper methods for inspection and test.
- Demonstrate functionality and operation of apparatus for dealers and customers, as required.
- Work with 3rd party testers to perform tests, document results, and ensure product meets requirements.
- Support all ISO requirements, including calibration, control of documents, control of records, control of non-conforming product, etc.
- Actively participate in lean/continuous improvement of products and processes to better serve the customer and improve operations.
- Utilize problem solving skills from identification through root cause resolution
OTHER DUTIES MAY INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
Perform or assist with any operations, as required or directed, to maintain work flow or respond to production requirements.
TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED:
Tape measure, angle finder, stop watch, magnetic yoke, air flow meter (CAFS), digital refractometer, calibrated containers, truck scales, etc..
POSITION EXPECTATIONS:
- SAFETY: Follow E-ONE General Health & Safety Rules, ensure safe operating conditions within area of responsibility, and notify coworkers and supervisors of hazardous acts and conditions. Proper use of PPE; use only defect-free equipment. Promote safety in department. Use proper lifting techniques and overhead hoist when needed. Maintain clean and safe working environment in line with 5-S Philosophy. Participate in hazardous communication training and safety meetings.
- QUALITY: Responsible for the quality of work. This requires defect-free work and understanding of the requirements of the company’s quality system as it pertains to job duties and responsibilities. Must be able to check work to ensure conformance to process control instructions, specifications, and quality standards. Identify and segregate non-conforming product. Identify the need for and assist in initiating and implementing corrective and preventive actions when appropriate.
- FLEXIBILITY: Able and willing to work in other areas as needed. Must be flexible in taking lunch and breaks when workflow requires. Willing to work additional hours as necessary.
- INITIATIVE: Actively participate in continuous improvement of products and processes to better serve customers and improve the overall profitability of E-ONE. Actively seek out work in other areas when current assignment is complete. Make suggestions for improving product quality, processes, safety, and company profitability.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Must possess advanced problem solving skills from identification through root cause resolution.
- Minimum 5 years experience in the operation or maintenance of Fire Apparatus, or equivalent. Must have thorough product knowledge, including functional operation
- Critical situations are common requiring superior judgment and consistency with company policy.
- Must understand and be able to follow documented Test and Inspection Procedures.
- Must be able to operate electronic diagnostic machinery
- Knowledge of computer skills (Baan, E-ONE Portal, Data Entry, Word, Excel and Outlook)
- Ability to effectively communicate and interact with customers and fellow employees, and ability to work in difficult situations. Proficient verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of FAA and NFPA
- Obtain CDL license (Class A or B) within 12 months
- High school graduate or General Education Diploma
- Attention to detail

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Lift/Push/Pull- Exerting up to 40 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- Climbing- Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles and the like, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms.
- Stooping- Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist.
- Kneeling- Bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knees.
- Crouching/Crawling/Reaching - Bending the body downward and forward by bending leg and spine. Moving about on hands and knees or hands and feet. Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
- Standing- Particularly for sustained periods of time.
- Walking- Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another.
- The worker is required to have visual acuity to perform an activity such as: operating machines such as lathes, drill presses, power saws and mills where the seeing job is at or within arm’s reach; performing mechanical tasks of a non-repetitive nature such as carpenters, technicians, service people, plumbers, painters, mechanics, etc. The worker is required to have visual acuity to operate motor vehicles or heavy equipment
