Develop, maintain, and improve manufacturing processes that enable the engineering design to be manufactured for meeting the following: quality requirements, cost effectiveness, cycle time improvements.


  • Document and train employees on work instructions, process instructions, manufacturing engineering bulletins, visual aids.  Maintain current revision/context in concert with Technical Writer/Document Control.
  • Resolve issues regarding internal and external customer satisfaction and the development of quality standards and specifications in manufacturing. Apply data driven root cause analysis to form the basis for improvement activities.
  • Lead process improvement activities utilizing lean and six sigma tools and methodologies to deliver to improvement of business goals such as Productivity, Quality, Safety, Cost, and Delivery.
  • Provide technical support to daily production activities to resolve manufacturability issues. Analyze and disposition product to meet design intent, quality standards and keep impact to production schedule at a minimum.
  • Analyze and calculating equipment and process capability and capacity.
  • Initiating and Project Management of Capital Expenditures. Developing and justifying the AFE, sourcing the equipment, managing installation and start-up, facilitate training, documentation.
  • Manage and participate in cross-functional, company-wide, special projects to improve business systems and facilitate continuous improvement.
  • Conduct plant/facility layout analysis, initiative proposals and execute on planned changes/improvements based on the changing need of the volume and variability of the product.
  • Develop expertise and coach/mentor employees in continuous improvement tools such as lean methodologies (i.e. 5S, 7 areas of waste, Kaizen, etc..) and six sigma (define, measure, analyze, improve, control)
  • Lead manufacturing Engineering functions such as: Engineering Change Orders, New Material Introduction (NMI), Change Requests (CRs), Corrective Action Requests (CARs), Accident Investigations, etc..
  • Integral part of Material Review Board to assure rigorous defect description, root cause analysis, short term containment and long term corrective action.
  • Perform EV analysis, ROI and technical capability analysis for make/buy and outsource/insource initiatives.
  • Review designs for manufacturing and assembly to produce optimal total package cost to meet specified product price point.
  • Assist in qualification of vendors/suppliers based on manufacturing capabilities.

  • 4 years Bachelor Degree in an Engineering field
  • Six Sigma and /or Lean certificate/qualifications or 2 years in equivalent role



PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:  While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk and sit. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus.
