SCOPE:
As a Manufacturing Engineering Intern at E-ONE, you will be working with Production & OpEx teams to develop solutions for fixturing, layouts and tooling requirements. During the design phase you will be part of a design team that will design, review and release design packages consisting of 3D models, part drawings, and Bills of Materials needed for the manufacturing of various fixtures. During the production phase, you will be working with Manufacturing and OpEx to help ensure the designs meet operational requirements.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist with the development of fixtures to ensure process standardization throughout the manufacturing process
- Participation in shop floor meetings to understand the design requirements and answer questions regarding product design parameters and/or limitations.
- Providing support during manufacturing to ensure quality and schedule commitments are met.
- Holding cross-functional design reviews as appropriate to solicit input to deliver a robust design that is producible, avoiding interferences and meeting all industry and company requirements.
- Ad-hoc production line or customer support as needed to maintain operational flow or resolve specific customer problems.
- All other duties as assigned
TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED:
- AutoCAD
- Windchill
- PTC CREO Finite Element Analysis software
- Microsoft Office, SharePoint, PowerBI
- ERP systems for release parts: BAAN, Microsoft Dynamics365
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Current student working towards an Engineering Degree
- Junior or Senior preferred
- Proficiency in CAD systems – CREO and/or Auto CAD
- Knowledge and experience with vehicle CAN bus architecture and protocol such as CANOpen, J1939, etc.
- Must have knowledge of electronic circuit design and related components such as resistors, capacitors, etc.
- Must have a general understanding of harness design and developing wiring schematics.
- Must have a general understanding of design and/or drafting techniques.
- Must be knowledgeable in AutoCAD, ProE/Creo or other design software.
- Must have knowledge of harness design software – Zuken E3, VeSys etc.
- Useful skills:
- Awareness and familiarization of regulatory standards – NFPA, DOT, ULC etc.
- Knowledge and use of lean manufacturing principles
- Problem solving skills including Root Cause Analysis, 5-Why, Is Is-Not, etc.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Lift/Push/Pull- Exerting up to 40 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- Climbing- Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles and the like, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms.
- Stooping- Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist.
- Kneeling- Bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knees.
- Crouching/Crawling/Reaching - Bending the body downward and forward by bending leg and spine. Moving about on hands and knees or hands and feet. Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
- Standing- Particularly for sustained periods of time.
- Walking- Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another.
