Scope
Meet the requirements for a Mechanical Technician and operate at the highest level of competency. Must have the knowledge and ability to complete the manufacturing of fire emergency vehicles from customer written orders and prints.
- Electrical: Diagnose, detect, and repair electrical issues on vehicle electrical (12v / 24v) systems.
- Rigging: Assist with sequencing of assembly tasks.
- Mechanical: Understand and perform detection and correction of mechanical & hydraulic systems. Assist with design-related issues as necessary.
Essential Functions
- Ensure manufacturing, quality, and safety requirements are met.
- Work from shop orders, specifications, manuals, schematics, prints, production schedules, inspection lists, and instructions.
- Diagnose problems, establish root cause, disassemble units, and determine extent of repairs. Identify material requirements, rebuild and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic units and software.
- Reassemble and test components to meet all applicable standards.
- Review operational malfunctions, analyze data, identify root causes, and coordinate resolutions. Communicate with customer representatives and visit locations as required.
- Identify, locate, remove and replace parts or components, and make necessary adjustments. Retrofit or modify products to meet engineering or customer changes.
- Set up prescribed tests for electrical components including lights, sirens, radios, and warning systems. Diagnose issues, rewire or replace units, trace wires, examine connections, and test operation.
- Set up, change over, and operate equipment and machine tools. Review print packages, BOMs, and shop orders, and correct discrepancies.
- Serve as technical advisor to the supervisor, assist with planning daily activities, and meet commitments.
- Use fall protection when working at heights above 4 feet.
- Participate in LEAN and continuous improvement activities.

Tools and Equipment Used
Hand tools, power tools, saws, soldering iron, electrical test stands, voltmeters, amp meters, computers, engine/transmission data readers, tape measures, digital levels, torches, plasma cutters, air arc, fixtures, overhead cranes, impact wrenches, stud welders, grinders, belt sanders, drill presses, templates, heat guns, rivet and screw guns, shop trucks, forklifts, and other tools as needed.

- Quality: Responsible for defect-free work and understanding quality system requirements. Check work for conformance to process controls, specifications, and standards. Identify and segregate non-conforming products. Assist in initiating corrective and preventive actions.

Minimum Requirements
- High school graduate or GED preferred
- Math and blueprint reading skills
- Computer skills and familiarity with E-ONE operating systems
- Attention to detail and strong work ethic
- Commitment to E-ONE quality standards
- Good problem-solving skills
- Ability to work as part of a team
Physical Requirements
- Lift/push/pull up to 40 pounds frequently and up to 20 pounds constantly.
- Climb ladders, stairs, scaffolding, poles, and similar structures.
- Bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and reach.
- Stand for sustained periods and walk long distances or between work sites.
- Visual acuity to operate machines and perform mechanical tasks.
- Operate motor vehicles or heavy equipment.
- Work near moving mechanical parts, vehicles, electrical currents, at heights, or near heat and chemicals.
- Participate in companywide stretching at 7:00 AM and 11:15 AM daily.
