Handles all product related activities and provides technical guidance to the organization, dealers and customers. Performs engineering design evaluations and works to complete projects within budget and scheduling restraints. Reviews industry policies and procedures to ensure data accuracy, security, and regulatory compliance. Reviews reports of production, malfunction, and maintenance to determine or address problems. Provides technical support for the engineering process. Collaborates with other engineering departments and coordinates their disciplines to the development of the project. Designs, implements, and communicates, an operational plan for completing the project. Monitors progress and performance against the project plan. Takes action to resolve operational problems and minimize delays. Identifies, develops, and gathers resources necessary to complete the project. Prepares engineering designs and work specifications. Develops project schedules, budgets, and forecasts. Selects materials, equipment, project staff, and external contractors. A specialist on complex technical and business matters. Work is highly independent. May assume a team lead role for the work group. Additionally, this position relies on an in-depth understanding of the products, market and the customer base as well as internal systems and processes to perform the job functions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Assist with designing, developing, executing, and evaluating fitness-for-use testing, product specifications and process validation plans for a variety of advanced complexity products and/or components.
- Use CAD (Computer Aided Design) or CAE (Computer Aided Engineering) software to develop the structural design of various products, model new designs, and produce detailed engineering and sales drawings.
- Verify designs through use of calculations and other analytical techniques and tools.
- Understand manufacturing processes with emphasis on metal fabrication and assemblies. Apply DFM methodologies to deliver robust engineering packages emphasizing productivity in the manufacturing process.
- Fulfill customer requirements (i.e., shop orders) considering design rules and all applicable interface points.
- Create and maintain sales sheets and marketing materials with the latest features and options.
- Identify problems, root causes and be able to define & execute resolutions while working with Customer Service on technical product issues.
- Understand and use lean principles as they apply to manufacturing and business processes.
- Execute changes due to product obsolescence and supply shortages through established processes and documentation.
- Review special requests while maintaining focus on rationalization and complexity reduction.
- Evaluate option pricing to maintain profitability and market share.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Skills in computer simulation, cost estimation, design optimization, design review, engineering analysis & design, feasibility study, mathematical analysis & modeling, prototyping, quality assurance process and reliability analysis.
- Knowledge of manufacturing industry and vocational standards.
- CAD and CAE software experience.
- Experience with problem solving techniques (5 why & root cause analysis).
- Experience with statistical techniques and data analysis.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with ability to work directly with hourly production employees and leadership concerning manufacturing initiatives and progress updates.
- Strong work ethic, highly motivated, organized, and self-disciplined.

- Capable of effectively presenting information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees in the organization.
Education and/or Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree of Engineering, Engineering Technology, or equivalent education required.
- Typically requires 10+ years of related industry experience
- At least 5 years of experience in a leadership role
Work Environment/Conditions:
- General office environment with work on the plant floor as required.
