SCOPE: This role provides plant-wide equipment support, leads troubleshooting, drives continuous improvement, and mentors technicians to build technical capability across the team. The Master Technician communicates clearly, models REV behaviors, participates in on-call coverage, and contributes to training, planning, and operational excellence. Candidates for this level must demonstrate deep hands-on experience, strong problem-solving skills, leadership ability, and a commitment to advancing maintenance processes, equipment reliability, and team development.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Demonstrate Master-Level Technical Expertise:
Apply full mastery of Level I–III maintenance skills, including advanced mechanical, electrical, PLC, and servo system troubleshooting. - Plant-Wide Equipment Support:
Diagnose, repair, and maintain all plant equipment and machinery, including operation, programming, and safety systems. Work alongside operators to understand equipment function and layout. - PLC, Controls, and Automation Troubleshooting:
Read, write, and modify ladder logic; program part programs; interpret safety circuits; and map/configure HMI screens on both new and existing equipment. - Advanced Electrical and Mechanical Diagnostics:
Perform high- and low-voltage electrical work; interpret schematics; troubleshoot switchgear and control components; repair servo drives and motors; and apply expert knowledge of mechanical components such as ball screws, bearings, and slides. - Continuous Improvement & Downtime Reduction:
Identify root causes of machine failures, collaborate with suppliers on improved repair methods, track and log repair data, and recommend strategies to improve equipment reliability and operational efficiency. - Lead and Mentor the Maintenance Team:
Train Level I–III Technicians, share best practices, and support development of structured training programs. Provide leadership on projects and assist with conflict resolution and team coordination. - Work Order Management:
Oversee the completion and accuracy of work orders, ensuring documentation, follow-up, and reporting are completed in a timely manner. - On-Call Support:
Provide weekend or after-hours availability for emergency breakdown response, either onsite or via phone support. - Communication & Collaboration:
Communicate clearly with operators, supervisors, engineers, and leadership. Adjust communication style based on audience and ensure alignment across departments. - Model REV Behaviors:

OTHER DUTIES MAY INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
- Assisting with equipment installations, upgrades, or redesigns.
- Supporting Safety with machine guarding reviews, lockout/tagout updates, and incident investigations.
- Coordinating with vendors for parts sourcing, warranty repairs, or specialized service needs.
- Participating in capital project planning or equipment specification discussions.
- Providing technical input during new equipment purchases or evaluations.
- Helping develop or refine preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
- Assisting with spare parts inventory recommendations and accuracy checks.
- Supporting cross-functional teams during audits or compliance inspections.
- Maintaining detailed documentation of repairs, modifications, and equipment history.
- Performing special projects or tasks assigned by leadership to improve plant operations.

Calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, feeler gauges, laser alignment tools, multimeters, clamp meters, megohm meters. - Electrical Testing & Diagnostic Equipment:
Oscilloscopes, thermal imaging cameras, phase rotation meters, voltage testers, continuity testers, insulation testers, power analyzers. - Mechanical Repair Equipment:
Bearing pullers, gear pullers, hydraulic presses, torque wrenches, lubrication systems, alignment jigs. - PLC, Controls & Automation Tools:
Laptop computers with PLC programming software (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens), HMI configuration tools, servo tuning software, network diagnostic tools. - Machine-Specific Tools:
Lockout/Tagout kits, panel breakers, fuse pullers, wire crimpers, cable testers, conduit benders, soldering tools. - Welding & Fabrication Tools (as applicable):
MIG/TIG welders, cutting torches, plasma cutters, grinders, fabrication equipment. - Lifting & Material Handling Equipment:
Forklifts, overhead cranes, hoists, jacks, rigging equipment. - Computer & Software Tools:
AutoCAD or similar CAD programs, CMMS/work order systems, equipment manuals, digital schematics, maintenance tracking software. - Safety Equipment (PPE):
Arc-flash suits, insulated gloves, face shields, safety glasses, hearing protection, steel-toe boots, respirators (as required).
POSITION EXPECTATIONS:
- SAFETY: Follow E-ONE General Health & Safety Rules, ensure safe operating conditions within area of responsibility, and notify coworkers and supervisors of hazardous acts and conditions. Proper use of PPE; use only defect-free equipment. Promote safety in department. Use proper lifting techniques and overhead hoist when needed. Maintain clean and safe working environment in line with 5-S Philosophy. Participate in hazardous communication training and safety meetings.
- QUALITY: Responsible for the quality of work. This requires defect-free work and understanding of the requirements of the company’s quality system as it pertains to job duties and responsibilities. Must be able to check work to ensure conformance to process control instructions, specifications, and quality standards. Identify and segregate non-conforming product. Identify the need for and assist in initiating and implementing corrective and preventive actions when appropriate.
- FLEXIBILITY: Able and willing to work in other areas as needed. Must be flexible in taking lunch and breaks when workflow requires. Willing to work additional hours as necessary.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Education:
High school diploma required; Journeyman certificate in an industrial electrical, mechanical, or related master-level trade (or equivalent combination of education and experience). - Experience:
10–15 years of plant or field maintenance experience with demonstrated mastery across electrical, mechanical, and controls systems. Experience across multiple plants or manufacturing environments preferred. - Technical Mastery:
Proven competency in all Level I–III maintenance skills with the ability to pass testing or hands-on demonstrations validating master-level knowledge. - Mechanical Knowledge:
Strong understanding of mechanical components including ball screws, bearings, slides, linear motion systems, gear assemblies, and machine alignment principles. - Electrical Knowledge:
Journeyman-level industrial electrical skills preferred, including ability to work with high- and low-voltage systems (up to 275 KVA), interpret schematics, and safely operate within electrical safety standards and PPE requirements. - PLC & Controls Proficiency:
Ability to troubleshoot, read/write ladder logic, program controllers, configure HMI screens, and work with servo systems and drive diagnostics. - Communication Skills:
Ability to communicate clearly, adapt messaging for different audiences, and produce written/electronic communication free of ambiguity. - Leadership & Training Ability:
Demonstrated history of mentoring, training, and developing junior technicians. Ability to lead by example and support team coordination. - Continuous Improvement Mindset:
Experience identifying root causes of equipment failures, improving repair processes, reducing downtime, and tracking corrective actions. - On-Call Availability:
Ability to support weekend or after-hours emergencies through onsite response or remote troubleshooting. - Knowledge of Plant Equipment:
Working familiarity with all machinery on site, including operation, programming, troubleshooting, and physical plant layout. - REV Behavior Alignment:

Ability to use advanced diagnostic tools, PLC software, mechanical measuring tools, and systems such as AutoCAD, CMMS, and equipment-specific interfaces.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Standing, walking, and climbing: Ability to stand and walk for extended periods; move throughout the plant; climb stairs, ladders, and platforms as needed.
- Lifting and carrying: Must be able to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 pounds regularly and heavier loads with assistance or mechanical lifting devices.
- Bending and reaching: Frequent bending, kneeling, stooping, twisting, and reaching into machines or tight areas during repairs or inspections.
- Dexterity: Ability to use hands to handle tools, small parts, wiring, and precision instruments; steady hand–eye coordination required for troubleshooting and component repair.
- Working in varied environments: Ability to work in hot, cold, dusty, noisy, or confined areas of the plant as required by maintenance tasks.
- Vision requirements: Close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to distinguish colors (for wiring and electrical diagnostics).
- Hearing: Ability to hear alarms, machine sounds, and verbal instructions in a manufacturing environment.
- Mobility: Ability to move safely around large equipment, industrial machinery, elevated platforms, and restricted spaces.
- PPE use: Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment, including safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, steel-toe footwear, arc-flash gear, and respirators when needed.
- On-call physical readiness: Ability to respond to emergency call-ins, which may require physically accessing equipment or areas quickly.
