Perform duties to pre-assemble and install any range of internal and external fixtures, accessories and hardware on specific units. Perform duties to assign employees, monitor operations, monitor workflow and resolve operating problems within assigned segment of the department to ensure that completed trucks are customer ready.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Work from shop orders, quality lists, production schedules, pre-shipment inspection lists, customer generated discrepancy lists and instructions.
  2. Review shop orders to determine requirements. Conduct inspection of built vehicles to assess all elements of fit and finish. Coordinate the documentation of deviations to ensure that defects are corrected.
  3. Break down operations based on section equipment and staffing availability, capacity, capability and general load factors. Initiate recommendations for alternative methods to improve manufacturing efficiencies.
  4. Respond to operating problems of any nature. Communicate bill of material problems to engineering representatives and make recommendations for engineering change notices.
  5. Document shift operations within assigned segment of the department and communicate pertinent data verbally and in writing at change of shift to ensure continuity of operations and understanding of current work status.
  6. Perform any range of rigging and assembly operations as required to maintain work flow within assigned segment.
  7. Monitor the quality of work performed in assigned area of responsibility. Prepare any range of periodic or special status reports relating to work activities and accomplishments. Document shift operations within assigned segment of the department and communicate pertinent data verbally and in writing at change of shift to ensure continuity of operations and understanding of current work status.
  8. Perform any range of rigging and assembly operations as required to maintain work flow within assigned segment. Operate shop vehicle to pick up parts, materials or supplies from local vendors or move materials or documentation between plants.
  9. Technical advisor to the supervisor and assists with planning and accomplishing weekly/daily commitments.  Work with supervisors and personnel in other departments, as well as engineering, to identify and resolve manufacturing issues.

 

OTHER DUTIES MAY INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  1. Perform or assist with any operations, as required or directed, to maintain work flow or respond to production requirements.
  2. Follow safety rules, ensure safe operating conditions within area of responsibility and notify supervisor of unusual operating conditions.
  3. Attend and participate in a variety of meetings, training programs, and task force groups to integrate activities, communicate issues, obtain approvals, resolve problems and maintain specific level of knowledge pertaining to changes to equipment or process, new developments, requirements, procedures and policies and assist with the training and orientation of new or transferred employees as directed.
  4. Maintain valid State of Florida Drivers License, required endorsements and insurance.

 

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED:

Computer, hand and hand power tools, tape measure, saws, rivet and screw guns, drill press, belt sander, stud welder, grinders, impact wrenches, shop truck and fork lift.

SAFETY:  Work safely and help fellow employees work safely.  Follow safety rules, ensure safe operating conditions within your area of responsibility and notify coworkers and supervision of hazardous operating methods or conditions.  Proper use of PPE; use only defect-free equipment.  Promote safety in department.  Use proper lifting techniques and overhead hoist when needed.  Maintain clean and safe working environment in line with company policies.  Participate in hazardous communication training.
  3. QUALITY:  Responsible for the quality of your work.  This requires that you perform defect-free work and understand the requirements of the company’s quality system as it pertains to your job duties and responsibilities.  Must be able to check your work to ensure conformance to process control instructions, specifications, and quality standards.  Identify and segregate non-conforming product.  Identify the need for and assist in initiating and implementing corrective and preventive actions when appropriate.
  4. VERSATILITY:  Able and willing to work in other areas as needed.  Must be flexible in taking lunch and breaks when workflow requires.
  5. INITIATIVE:  Willing to work late when needed.  Actively participate in continuous improvement of our products and processes to better serve our customers and improve the overall profitability of Emergency One.  Actively seek out work in other areas when current assignment is complete.  Make suggestions for improving product quality, processes, safety, and company profitability.
  6. TEAMWORK:  Positive working attitude toward other employees; team player.  Work with others constructively and abide by company policies and procedures.  Working together as a team for continuous improvement is vital to ensure the future of Emergency One and its employees.  Teamwork will be required to be effective both in our daily production assignments as well as special improvement projects.
  7. 8.         ENVIRONMENTAL: Perform hazardous waste activities as required, including ensuring that all wastes are properly contained, and that containers are labeled, dated when appropriate, and kept closed when not in use. As a production employee, you will receive upon initial employment and annually thereafter, Hazardous Waste Management Program Training in accordance with the Title 40, Code of Federal Regulations, Part 265.16.  Specific training requirements per department are outlined in the Environmental Training Requirements, document ETC-009.
