SCOPE: A Manufacturing Technician I will operate at the highest level of competency in a designated area, line segment or cell(s) to meet production requirements. This position will support the Lead Technician and Production Supervisor to monitor, train and provide technical knowledge as required.  Must be proficient in one or more of the following:

  • Plumbing: Perform water/foam system testing and make modifications and repairs as required to meet performance specifications.
  • Electrical: Diagnose, detect and repair electrical and program issues on all E‐ONE electrical systems. Rigging: Assist with sequencing of rigging tasks.
  • Mechanical: Perform detection and correction of all mechanical & hydraulic systems. Will assist with design related issues as necessary.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Must be able to ensure manufacturing, quality, and safety requirements are met.
  • Work from shop orders, specifications, in‐house and customer reports, manuals, schematics,  prints, diagrams, quality lists, production schedules, pre‐shipment inspection lists, customer generated discrepancy lists, and instructions.
  • As necessary, diagnose problems, establish root cause, disassemble units, and determine extent of repairs. Identify material requirements, rebuild and repair any range of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic units and software. Reassemble and test components to meet all applicable and required standards.
  • Review reported operational malfunctions.  Analyze data, identify root cause, and coordinate resolution with responsible party.  Communicate instructions to customer representative and visit customer location as required.  Identify, locate, remove and replace parts or components, and make required adjustments. Retrofit or modify product to meet engineering and/or customer changes.
  • Set up prescribed tests to check the operation of electrical components, including lights, sirens, radios, and warning systems.   Diagnose problems, locate source of trouble, rewire or replace units as required. Be able to trace wires, examine connections, and replace wiring and/or connectors. Test operation and reassemble repaired units.  
  • Set up, change over, and operate the complete range of equipment and machine tools in the assigned area.  This may include CNC equipment and machines.
  • Capable of performing scrubs of print packages, BOM’s, and shop orders; correct discrepancies. 8. Assist Lead Tech and Production Supervisor by monitoring cell productivity which may include planning of daily activities and accomplishing weekly/daily commitments as needed.  
  • Be a technical advisor to other Technicians, Lead Techs and Supervisor and guide Technicians in daily tasks as required.
  • Possess EVT qualification, CDL and AC certifications as required.
  • Assist the Lead Tech and Production Supervisor in the training and orientation of new and transferred team members into the department.
  • Must be able to perform within physical requirements including, but not limited to 40 lb single person lift; kneeling, squatting and standing for long periods of time. Ability to wear fall protection devices as needed when working at heights above 4 feet.
  • Must be able to participate in LEAN and continuous improvement activities.
  • Programming, repair and design support as required by engineering.
  • OTHER DUTIES MAY INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
    • Perform or assist with any operations, as required or directed, to maintain work flow or respond to production requirements.

 

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED:

  • Hand tools, hand power tools, saws, soldering iron, electrical test stand, voltmeters, ampmeter, computer, and engine/transmission data readers, tape measure, digital level, MIG, TIG, FCW, SMAW welding machines, torch, plasma cutter, air arc, fixtures, overhead crane, impact wrenches, stud welder, grinders, belt sander, drill press, templates, heat gun, saws, rivets and screw guns, drill press, belt sander, stud welder, grinders, impact wrenches, shop truck, and fork lift; other tools are required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Lift/Push/Pull‐ Exerting up to 40 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.  
  • Climbing‐ Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles and the like, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms.  
  • Stooping‐ Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist.  
  • Kneeling‐ Bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knees. 
  • Crouching/Crawling/Reaching  ‐ Bending the body downward and forward by bending leg and spine.  Moving about on hands and knees or hands and feet. Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.  
  • Standing‐ Particularly for sustained periods of time.  
  • Walking‐ Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly forlong distances or moving from one work site to another.
  • The worker is required to have visual acuity to perform an activity such as: operating machines such aslathes, drill presses, power saws and mills where the seeing job is at or within arm’s reach; performing mechanical tasks of a non‐repetitive nature such as carpenters, technicians, service people, plumbers, painters, mechanics, etc. The worker is required to have visual acuity to operate motor vehicles or heavy equipment
