Coordinates and expedites the flow of materials to the finish department in a timely manner to meet production schedules. Work with Inventory clerks on levels in 2 bins system and cycle count reporting. Compiles and maintains manual and computerized records using the made 2 manage system.
Essential Functions for Material Expediter:
- Must be able to follow written and verbal work orders and instructions in English.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs. and be in good physical condition.
- Must follow all company policy and procedures as stated in the company policy and safety manual including wearing safety glasses, ear protection, and steel-toed shoes.
- Must be able to work in a noisy environment.
- Willingness to work overtime as needed.
- Must exhibit a comprehensive knowledge of the company’s product line, usage, and optional equipment.
- Actively pursues Cost Savings measures.
- Must possess thorough knowledge of complete truck assembly line operations.
- Must be able to work in a high pace environment.
- Must be thoroughly familiar with the materials, tools and methods of the manufacturing process.
Key Accountabilities
- Ensures assemblers have the material and supplies needed to perform their job function without interruption or delays
- Follows all safety guidelines for safe forklift operation
- Keeps all stock items and Work In Process parts organized and stocked
- Assist Assemblers with material needs throughout the day.
Daily Job Activities:
- Separate all parts and put on shelves in a super market inventory system
- Keep parts needed for the day on the on line cart and all other items needed when employees call for them.
- Keep portable carts stocked/moved in appropriate Cell’s.
- Assist in appropriate Cell’s as needed.
- Source parts from different departments as required.
- Be able to operate electric fork lift as required.
- Conduct accurate and timely daily cycle counts
- Keeps material stocked at Point of Use
- Conducts rounds the same way performing replenishment tasks identically each and every time.
- Takes finished goods from the work area, drop kanban cards, refill bins from central locations, and removes waste materials.
Potential Job Hazards:
- Electrical charge can occur if equipment is not used correctly.
- Burns, wiring terminals have heat shrink coating and require a torch to shrink fit. Residue becomes as hot as the torch.
- Repetitive motion injuries. Make sure that hand tools are being used correctly.
- Eye injuries. Make sure that safety glasses are worn at all times.
- Slips/trips/falls/cuts/scrapes. Sharp objects on truck may cause cuts if they are crawled on. Be very cautious of surroundings when climbing and crawling on the apparatus.
Job Qualifications:
- 1-2 years’ experience in manufacturing /warehouse environment
- Have a complete understanding of the department and have the skills to perform all tasks.
- All of the physical and mental requirements of the previous levels remain in effect.
- Extensive experience from outside of the company may be taken into consideration for these requisites.
- Collaborative working style and thrive in a cross-functional team environment.
- Experience in 5S activities, problem solving and Continuous Improvement processes.
- Forklift experience.
- Outstanding attention to detail and high personal quality expectations.
- Self-directed and self-motivated with a proven work ethic and ability to perform under pressure.
- Excellent organization, time management, and communication skills.
Additional Responsibilities:
Performs other duties as assigned.
