Position Summary:
The Fabricator I performs fabrication tasks such as welding, grinding, cutting, and assembling components according to production specifications. This position requires precision, attention to safety, and a willingness to learn and grow within a dynamic manufacturing environment.
Essential Job Functions:

Follow standard operating procedures and written/verbal instructions in English.

Read and use measuring tools such as tape measures accurately.

Lift and move materials up to 50 lbs. and perform physically demanding tasks (standing, bending, climbing).

Operate tools and equipment such as grinders, drills, and MIG/TIG welders.

Maintain safe work practices and comply with all safety procedures including use of PPE (safety glasses, steel-toed boots, hearing protection).

Work effectively in a loud, fast-paced environment.

Perform assigned tasks within time constraints and quality standards.

Accurately interpret and follow drawings, sketches, and specifications.

Maintain a clean and organized work area.
-
Cross-train and support other areas within the fabrication department as needed.

Demonstrate a willingness to learn and grow in all aspects of fabrication including MIG/TIG welding, blueprint reading, and equipment operation.

Share knowledge and assist in training new or existing team members.
Daily Responsibilities:
-
Grind and sand welds or parts to smooth finish.
-
Measure, cut, and drill materials as required.
-
Weld in various positions, including small or confined spaces within apparatus compartments.

Identify and place fabricated parts into appropriate staging or assembly areas.
Workplace Hazards and Safety Precautions:
-
Eye Protection: Wear approved welding helmets (shade #11 or darker) and safety goggles when sanding or grinding.

Heat Exposure: Use proper PPE when working near reflective heat sources, especially in compartments.

Burns/Cuts: Use caution and appropriate PPE during grinding, cutting, and welding.

Trips & Falls: Keep work areas clear of obstacles and secure air hoses. Use care when climbing on/off apparatus.

Heavy Lifting: Use cranes or request assistance when lifting items over 50 lbs. Never walk under suspended loads.

Air Quality: Use respirators in confined areas with limited ventilation when welding.
Additional Responsibilities:

Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Participate in continuous improvement and cost-reduction efforts.

Remain flexible and adapt to changing work assignments and production needs.
