Technician Maintenance - Tool Crib Attendant

The Tool Crib Attendant is responsible for the control, distribution, tracking, and maintenance of tools, equipment, and supplies used in maintenance and production operations. This role ensures tools are available, properly maintained, accurately inventoried, and documented within the CMMS system to support efficient and safe operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Issue, receive, and track tools, equipment, and consumables to maintenance and operations personnel.
- Maintain accurate tool and inventory records using the CMMS system.
- Create, update, and close work orders in CMMS related to tool repairs, calibration, and replacements.
- Monitor inventory levels and notify supervision when reorders are needed.
- Inspect tools and equipment for damage, wear, or safety concerns and remove defective items from service.
- Perform and assist with basic repairs, including air tool repair, air hose repair, and welding lead repair.
- Coordinate advanced tool repairs, calibration schedules, and replacements as needed.
- Assist the maintenance team with general tasks and support activities as required.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the tool crib and storage areas.
- Label, tag, and organize tools for easy identification and accountability.
- Enforce tool control procedures, check-in/check-out processes, and loss prevention practices.
- Assist maintenance personnel in locating specialized tools or equipment.
- Receive, verify, and store incoming tools and supplies.
- Generate inventory and usage reports from CMMS as required.
- Follow all safety policies, procedures, and PPE requirements.
- Support audits, inspections, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Will help with running floor sweeper a couple times a week.
- Will help with snow removal as needed.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Experience working in a tool crib, warehouse, maintenance, or industrial environment preferred.
- Basic mechanical knowledge and familiarity with hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment.
- Experience using CMMS software preferred.
- Basic computer skills (data entry, email, reporting).
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to follow procedures and maintain accurate records.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry tools and materials (up to 50 lbs).
- Ability to work in an industrial environment.
Work Environment
- Manufacturing, industrial, or maintenance facility.
- Exposure to noise, dust, grease, and moving equipment.
Performance Metrics
- Accuracy of inventory records in CMMS.
- Tool availability and turnaround time.
- Compliance with tool control and safety procedures.
- Organization and cleanliness of the tool crib.
Preferred Qualifications (Optional)
- Previous experience with inventory management or asset tracking.
- Forklift or material handling certification.
- Basic understanding of maintenance work orders and preventive maintenance.
