implementing goals, strategies, plans and policies that continuously improve the overall effectiveness and profitability of the business unit. The General Manager is accountable for setting strategic direction to deliver the highest quality product while maximizing company profit in line with Leader Emergency Vehicles’ mission and vision. This role requires expert knowledge and application of lean manufacturing principles to drive continuous improvement in meeting company goals and objectives. The role also requires active, hands on engagement in all aspects of the order to cash process.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Assumes leadership and expertise of lean manufacturing principles. Accountable for the implementation and sustainment of lean within areas of responsibility. Must be change agent and ambassador for continuous improvement. Must be able to teach/train employees at all levels on the concepts of lean. Must proactively lead the engagement of all personnel in the implementation of the principles and tools of lean.
  • Directly leads and supervises the local business unit team across various functions while simultaneously leading project activities through coaching and mentoring employees on project execution to deliver consistent results in line with the annual operating plan.
  • Leads the business unit in company goal setting, talent deployment/development, and strategic planning activities, typically detailing 1st level improvement initiatives and targets to improve. 
  • Leads the business unit in achievement of company financial targets, including net sales, EBITDA, and Net Working Capital.
  • Sets strategic direction for the plant/facility in accordance with business goals and objectives.
  • Through P&L ownership, develops credibility for the company by providing timely and accurate analysis of operations, budgets, financial reports, and industry trends.
  • Evaluate and advise on the impact of mid and long-term planning, introduction of new programs/strategies and regulatory activities and actions. Leads and is actively involved in existing and new product development/improvement activities to ensure the company remains innovative and competitive in its product offering and is a “market driven” organization.
  • Influences the sale of company products and services using technical, organizational, and customer knowledge to influence customers and assist them in applying the products/services to their needs.
  • Enhance and/or develop, implement and enforce policies and procedures of the organization by way of systems that will improve the overall operation, efficiency, and profitability of the company.
  • Direct responsibility for execution of the order to cash process, including direct sales management, distributor relationship management, order intake process, and invoicing process.
  • Responsible for production scheduling including balancing customer requirements, throughput, and weekly product mix.
  • Responsible for safety and environmental compliance of the facility and surrounding grounds. Holds departmental employees accountable for following all OSHA and company policies and regulations. Actively leads safety improvement activities.
  • Maintains close involvement with facilities and equipment to ensure the company is taking advantage of applicable latest technologies and practices.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Requirements and (education, experience, travel, physical, work environment):

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Engineering or similar, Master’s preferred.
  • An experienced leader and business executive with appropriate industry experience preferably in the specialty vehicle industry.
  • Bi-Lingual in English and intermediate Spanish required.
  • An energetic, forward-thinking and creative individual with high ethical standards and an appropriate professional image.
  • A strategic visionary with sound technical skills, analytical ability, good judgment and strong operational focus.
  • An intelligent and articulate individual who can relate to people at all levels of the organization and possesses excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Establishes creditability throughout the organization including corporate as an effective problem solver, be viewed as approachable and as a mentor to people within the organization.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents.
  • Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints, and the ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on complex topics to top management, dealers, customers and corporate.
  • Computer proficient with a variety of software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, database, and other software utilized within the organization.
  • Can effectively cope and lead through change and ambiguity.
  • Step-up to conflicts, seeing them as opportunities; read situations quickly; good at focused listening; can hammer out tough agreements and settle disputes equitably; can find common ground and get cooperation.

The pay scale for newly hired employees in this position at this location in California is between $125,000 - $200,000.  This is based on meeting all of the requirements of the role. The base pay offered for the role may vary depending on the candidate’s job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.  We are proud to offer competitive benefits in addition to competitive pay.
