Apply sub-coatings and finish coatings to all metal components and finished products.  Fulfill all painting requirements to include from parts painting to complete vehicle paint, both in solid and metallic colors.  Mix all products according to specifications.  Check all painted materials for proper surface condition and proper paint preparations and repair as required

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Mix coatings with thinner and catalyst to correct mixture using color mixture equipment
  • Apply coating with all types of spray equipment to meet coverage and gloss standards
  • Correct errors in the application of all types of coating
  • Paint the parts and understand the acceptable quality of finish
  • Clean and inspect prior to painting
  • Follow all procedures for quality lasting paint finish
  • Mix and spray all products used
  • Maintain spray equipment to meet operational standards and follow hazardous waste disposal program and fire prevention program
  • Ensure that hazardous waste that is handled is placed in proper containers
  • Train other painters both in production and quality
  • Retain information taught with regard to chemicals and related items and proper usage of the same
  • Ensure cleaning, detailing and decaling tasks are completed per instruction
  • Function with a minimal amount of supervision
  • Close attention to detail
  • Meet standards of safety and 5S
  • Promote use and applications of Lean Manufacturing continuous improvement tools as part of the culture
  • Be compliant with the rules of conduct and attendance per company handbook
  • Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.
  • Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned.

 

 

 

Requirements (education, experience, travel, physical, work environment):

 

  • Ability to read, write comprehend and verbally communicate simple instructions, short correspondence and memos in English
  • Ability to run dual-action sanders, grinders and miscellaneous hand tools
  • Ability to spray primers with an air paint system
  • Able to read and interpret shop orders to determine color required
  • Able to determine proper surface condition for acceptance of paint and prepare if required
  • Must have full knowledge of quality requirements to product acceptable finish paint
  • Must be able to spray entire vehicle body with the acceptable quality level
  • Must have general knowledge of OSHA and EPA standards
  • Ability to read and use linear and other measuring devices
  • Able to consistently apply automotive coating to an acceptable level
  • Ability to perform all operations within acceptable quality and time standards

 

 

Education and Experience:

 

 

Painter II

  • Two to Four years of experience in automotive paint application
  • Familiar with all aspects of paint blending, repair, and application of automotive coating as well as the proper usage of products

  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40#’s
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.
  • Ability to work with arms above head.
  • Ability to work in noisy and dusty conditions.

 

 

 

Work Environment:

 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts.  The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and vibration.  The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals

The pay scale for newly hired employees in this position at this location in California is between $25.00 - $31.00.  This is based on meeting all of the requirements of the role. The base pay offered for the role may vary depending on the candidate’s job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.  We are proud to offer competitive benefits in addition to competitive pay.
