Cost Accountant

The position reports directly to the Controller. Assists in a variety of duties including product costing, data processing, inventory controls, expense budgets, month end closing, forecasting and capital appropriations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary from time to time.

1. Assist in establishing material, freight, labor and overhead standards. Performs variance analysis monthly
2. Prepare performance records, anticipates sales and cost to develop business forecasts for planning purposes
3. Maintain product pricing and costs in computer system, audit BOM accuracy
4. Responsible for monthly freight reconciliation between projected freight costs and payments to ensure sufficient freight accrued
5. Responsible for ensuring compliance with all government tax regulations
6. Prepare month end close standard journal entries and confirms COGS accuracy.
7. Complete variance analysis for review with dept managers and Controller
8. Participate and track LeanDNA projects
9. Assist in taking physical inventories, completes necessary cost rolls in product cost system, completes corporate required reports relating to inventory at year end
10. Provide finance support on the cycle count program for completeness and accuracy
11. Assist in annual budgeting, monthly/quarterly forecast preparation and review
12. Assist Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable
13. Reconcile inter-company accounts
14. Assist with SOX procedures and audits, interacting with different departments and procedures
15. Assist in timely account reconciliations preparation maintaining the accuracy of balance sheet accounts as required by company policy and SOX
16. Perform other duties deemed necessary by the Controller

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

1. Demonstrated effectiveness in a fast-paced, growth-oriented organization, requiring flexibility and adaptability to changing organization priorities
2. Solid project management and problem-solving capabilities
3. Ability to effectively manage change and process improvement
4. Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Advanced Excel)

Education and/or Experience:

• Bachelors Degree in accounting or equivalent              
• Three+ years of progressive experience in accounting/finance at an industrial manufacturing company
• Preferred: CPA, IT system knowledge of SAP, MAPICS/Infor XA, OneStream
