Job summary: We are looking for a diligent and reliable Laborer to maintain the landscaped areas surrounding parking lots. The role includes operating lawn mowers and other tools to ensure these areas are neat, clean, and presentable. The ideal candidate will prioritize safety while working near vehicles and pedestrian traffic.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Operate and maintain lawn mowers (push and/or riding) to cut grass in and around parking lot areas.
  • Use trimmers and other landscaping tools to edge, trim, and maintain neat surroundings.
  • Clear grass clippings, leaves, and other debris from parking lots, sidewalks, and curbs.
  • Inspect parking lot areas for obstacles or hazards before mowing to ensure safe operations.
  • Operate and move company vehicles within property to vacate areas for lawn maintenance.
  • Follow all safety protocols, especially when working near vehicles and pedestrian areas.
  • Report any damage or hazards (e.g., potholes, obstructions) to the immediate supervisor.
  • Perform basic maintenance on equipment, such as cleaning and refueling lawn mowers.
  • Assist with additional landscaping or maintenance tasks as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Requirements (education, experience, travel, physical, work environment):

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred but not required.
  • Experience operating lawn mowers and landscaping equipment is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail, with an emphasis on safety.
  • Reliable and punctual, with the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Valid Drivers license

The employee frequently is required to walk.  The employee is occasionally required to stand, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Other physical requirements include:

 

  • Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 40#’s without assistance.
  • Ability to work from various squatting, kneeling or bending positions.
  • Ability to work with arms above head.
  • Ability to stand for ten hours a day (minus specified breaks.)
  • Ability to perform all operations within acceptable quality and time standards.
  • Ability to operate lawn mowers and landscaping equipment.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.
  • Required to handle and dispose of hazardous waste.
  • Ability to work in 105-degree heat for excess of ten (10) hours per day.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in an outdoor environment, including exposure to weather elements such as sun, rain, and wind. The employee frequently operating lawn maintenance equipment near parking lots with vehicle and pedestrian traffic; and operating company vehicles.

  • Occasionally lift up to but not exceed 40#’s.
  • Ability to work with arms above head.
  • Able to read and follow written and verbal instructions.
